First Zoo Trip
We decided to take Miss Molly to the zoo this week before it got too blazing hot (and it was still pretty darn hot!). It was Molly's first trip to any zoo and it was the first time to visit the Nashville Zoo for both Matt and myself. And I must say, we had a great experience! It was very well designed with lots of shade, which was a really nice surprise. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. And, of course, there were plenty of cute and interesting animals to look at!
One of our first stops was the meerkats, which I think were actually Molly's favorite. She pointed at them and said "dog" over and over...
It was hard to get a good picture because they were hyper little boogers...always on the move!
We saw some exotic birds...
including flamingos!
There was a huge bamboo forest...
...where a red panda lived! Honestly, it looked more like an overgrown red raccoon than a black and white panda, but it sure was cute!
We also saw some lemurs who, sadly, would not sing "I like to move it, move it..." to us. We did, however, sing it to them instead. (Madagascar reference, in case you're clueless).
Then, on the not-so-exotic side (but just as fun), we saw some goats...
...who MR got to pet!
And, in typical goat fashion, they tried to snack on Matt's shirt.
All that snackin' made us a little hungry (and thirsty!), so MR tried her first orange cream slush...
...which gave her enough of a sugar rush to muster up the strength to wrestle some gators!
Our last stop was at the African Safari exhibit which contained some of the most impressive animals...
The giraffes were my personal favorite. They were so big and beautiful and elegant. I want one.
Somewhere in Africa, MR had to give into a nap (and consequently missed seeing the elephants and giraffes)...
Yep, I'd say our first zoo trip was a definite success. In fact, we liked the Nashville Zoo so much that we're thinking about becoming members. I'm pretty sure we'll be back soon!

LOVE her and her curly hair and her monkey shirt! We had never been to the Bham Zoo until we had a kid to take! We eventually got a membership and went every single Saturday followed by lunch at Chick-fil-A. It was our routine and we loved it! Y'all should get a membership. That way, if there are any meltdowns, it's too hot, etc, you can just leave and not worry about getting your money's worth. Bham Zoo has a splash pad which was another reason to go altogether! Y'all are such a sweet family. :)
